Updates!

Happy 2025! The site has had some information updates, please make sure to check out the Judge’s Education, the Dog Shows and Dog Sports, and the Health pages for the majority of the updates.

We are currently waiting on updates to the CDC Import Policy as this ia a critical setback to the breed. Unfortunately, all CDC updates that were expected to happen in January 2025 have been delayed until further notice. Please let your elected officials know that this is having a serious impact on a rare breed. When we know more, we will share it here.

New Title
1 new UKC Champion - CH Flixtonia Cracklin’ Rosie, owned by Ashley Hammock, Michael Silver, Sarah Peak, and Angela Leigh

New Title Announcement!

I am pleased to announce that the first ever UKC Grand Champion title for the breed has been awarded to TDRBIS MRBIS MBIG MTD GRCH UWP Kilcavan Captain Flint CGC CM pnt'd (Rolo). Rolo earned his title by winning the Champion class 5 times with competition of at least 3 champions entered in the class. The UKC Grand Champion title can only be achieved by breed competition and it is very difficult to earn. Rolo earned his title at the Beltsville, MD UKC shows hosted by K9 Konnections where he also went back to back Reserve Best in Show. He also broke the UKC RBIS record for the breed as well. 

Rolo is owned and handled by Ashley Hammock of Oceania Hamiltonstovare, he is a William x Betty son, and a full littermate to Kilcavan Mister Jemmerley at Flixtonia. 

Hamiltonstovare Booth Wins Group 4th!

December 16-17 was the annual AKC National Championship in Orlando, Fl. The Hamiltonstovare Club of America had a booth as part of the Meet the Breeds event. We decided to decorate it in a winter theme, showing the breed surrounded by snow and all things winter. 

We also had Ashley Hammock (president and co-founder) and Michael Silver (Secretary and head of the rescue committee) on hand with 4 of their Hamiltonstovare. One was competing at the NADD Dock Diving Nationals so we had lots of people asking about performance events with the breed.  

We are pleased to announce that the AKC and ShowSight magazine awarded the booth a Group 4th in the decoration contest. The judges were impressed with our educational materials, decorations as well as have several dogs on hand ready to meet the public.  

Hamiltonstovare can compete in AKC Junior Showmanship in 2018

We are excited to announce that as of a decision made by the AKC board that all FSS breeds, including Hamiltonstovare, are eligible to compete in all AKC Junior Showmanship competitions starting in 2018. 

Junior Showmanship is open to handlers between the ages of 9 and 18 and focus on the ability of the junior to handle the dog. Junior Showmanship is open to ALL Hamiltonstovare including spayed/neutered and rescues. In order to compete Hamiltonstovare must be registered with the AKC FSS and the junior handler must have an AKC junior handler number. 

Obtaining an AKC Junior Handler number can be done by submitting this form to the AKC. 

Registering with the AKC FSS as an individual dog can be done by submitting this form to the AKC. If the dog is a rescue, please request a rescue letter from the Hamiltonstovare Club of America. 

Breed History Made

I am pleased to announce that a Hamiltonstovare has earned an AKC performance title. The dog is UKC CH Oceania Use Any Means DJ "Selene". She earned her DJ dock diving title for 5 qualifying jumps over 10 feet in length and under 15 feet in length. Her new personal best is 12 feet 2 inches. Selene is owned by Ashley Hammock and Michael Silver. She is a Rolo x Alice daughter and bred by Ashley Hammock. 

DNA Request

Embark Veterinary Laboratories is currently looking for dogs willing to take part in a DNA mapping request. Currently they are looking for as many unrelated dogs as possible. If you own dogs that aren't related to the following dogs, please email Ashley Hammock with your mailing address and she will forward it on to Embark Veterinary Laboratories. Embark is graciously allowing Hamiltonstovare to take part in this opportunity at no cost!

Kilcavan Mister Jemmerley at Flixtonia

Closely related implies that they are not siblings, offspring or parents of the dogs listed above. All other dogs are welcome to submit. If in doubt, please email.
